July 6: All-Star Matt Cain pitches for the Giants!

Kathleen, a dear friend and hostess extraordinaire, knew that I was a baseball fan (she is so NOT a baseball fan!). She hit up her former optician, Jerry, who is originally from Ohio, to cough up his tix for one of the games when we would be in the City. Jerry did us SO good....AT&T Park is amazing. And we weren't even frozen like that game back in 1988 at the old Candlestick park! These new parks have great sight lines and are very accommodating. Of course, it didn't hurt that Jerry had great seats behind the visitor's bullpen! We REALLY appreciate the kindness of KK and Jerry. It was a fun win for the good guys and fun to meet up with Karen and her beautiful daughter, Katy!

Love this clock in the center of the scoreboard in straightaway center.

Matt poses with the Orlando Cepeda sculpture outside of AT&T park. We have a great sculpture of Bob Feller outside of Progressive Park in Cleveland. Love this stuff.

Originally, Kathleen thought that Matt and I would go to the game, but then she was also able to get two more tickets for Karen and her daughter, Katy. It was SO GREAT to see them! Karen was one of the primary movers and shakers in our class at Cal; she has a practice in Petaluma and drove to the ferry at Larkspur to get to the Giants game. How cool is that?!
We gabbed nonstop AND watched (most of) the game. Multitasking women, us.
Pablo Sandoval let one fly--this one was caught on the warning track, but later in the game, we were rewarded with a GRAND SLAM off his bat.

Wow. Kathleen sure knows how to show her friend a good time!

All-Star Matt Cain was as solid on the mound as he was cute. Nice performance.

Katy and Matt were both anxious to take home a stray foul ball or to catch any thrown give-aways. The last time I saw Katy, she was a baby in Karen's arms!
Matt was trying to see if he could spot The Big Unit (currently on the DL) in this dugout lineup.
He was a no-show here...

Next: we tour San Francisco with William
